Description
Fun Fact:
Traditionally, musk was harvested from the gland of the male musk deer, which is located near its genitals. This process involved capturing and killing the deer to obtain the musk. Due to ethical and conservation concerns, most musk used in contemporary perfumery is synthetic.
Plant-based musk is created using natural ingredients that mimic the musky scent found in animal-derived musk.
One of the most common sources of plant-based musk are ambrette seeds, that come from the musk mallow plant (Abelmoschus moschatus). The seeds have a musky, sweet aroma that is similar to traditional musk.
